San Diego - a SoCal Weekend

If you like getting outside, Southern California has fantastic weather and plenty of options. Go to Torrey Pines Park and pick a trail, any trail, depending on how much time you have.

Almost all of the trails lead to the ocean, and you’ll see the famous Torrey Pine tree that the region (and nearby golf course) is known for, as well as some epic coastal views.

Scripps Memorial Pier isn’t accessible to the public, but you can walk underneath and marvel at the symmetry. It’s a great photo spot.

The pier is part of the oceanography research site and boat launch. It’s a popular sunset spot as well.

I grew up on the East coast, so don’t get coastal views like this.

Explore Balboa Park which has a zoo, 17 museums, plenty of gardens, and romantic architecture.

Balboa Park

Even if you can’t stay here, Hotel Coronado is a SoCal establishment.

It’s a beachfront hotel - I didn’t get to see it on a sunny day, but it was still grand.

Coronado Beach is a flat beach with dramatic coasts in the distance.

La Jolla is a gem of a town. The water is azure, and the cove is a popular spot for marine animals.

There are plenty of lunch options in La Jolla Cove with coastal views like this one.

La Jolla is known for its seals that lounge in the sun, swim a bit, then slide back up to the rocks for more sun. They don’t smell great, but they are so fun to watch.

This cave used to be used by pirates and bootleggers to smuggle goods into California. Today, The Cave Store lets you take a private tour to check out the sea cave for yourself.

Sunset Cliffs

If the name didn’t give it away, Sunset Cliffs are a popular sunset spot. Be sure to leave early so you can find a parking spot and have plenty of time to watch the sun go down.

EAT

Better Buzz Coffee is all over Southern California, The interior has plants and insta worthy decorations.

You must stop at this California staple, In N Out. There’s almost always a line, no matter the time of day. If you don’t like burgers, get the grilled cheese.
